Our Mission

Our core mission is to help low-income and disadvantaged children succeed. All children are naturally driven to learn and deserve every opportunity to do so. By investing in early education, it can improve children's health, welfare and learning significantly. With support from their community this can be achieved for everyone.

Expanding Early Learning Opportunities

A growing body of research suggests that learning opportunities before children enter school can substantially predict their success and failure. However, many children do not have the type of experiences at home or in a preschool setting that enable them to develop the communication and interaction skills, motor development, cognitive skills, and social-emotional skills that enable them to be independent learners when they arrive in school. This undermines their success both in the short term and longer run.

Teachers are on the frontlines to deliver information to children. But they are met with several challenges. There are environmental, social, cultural and psychological barriers that can affect their student’s ability to learn and engage in school. To worsen the matter, many teachers are underpaid and are using personal finances to buy educational materials. The quality of their lessons should not depend on the amount of money they spend.

The Bigger Picture: Where Money Matters

Properly allocating funds is critical to our mission because of the obvious fact that not all kinds of spending improve student learning. Research affirms that the single most important measurable cause of increased student learning is teacher expertise. It should be a major focus of efforts when upgrading the quality of schooling. While we can't fund teacher salaries because these inequalities are in part a systemic issue of how local and federal public education is funded in the US. We will support children by creating intellectually stimulating environments at home. The effects leading to a self-reinforcing motivation to learn more, and gain an early mastery of a range of cognitive, social and emotional competencies making learning at late ages more efficient and likely to continue.

At Florera, we supply materials to teachers and families in need. We give children the opportunity to apply the information they learn in the classroom, through take-home materials. By purchasing our products, you are directly giving children memorable experiences inside and outside the classroom.
